How Ash ended his morning anxiety in 2 days
Hello everyone! It’s time to share a story of one of our community members again, and today we will be taking a look at how @Ashish Patel went from being paralyzed by health anxiety, to trusting his body and living his life again.
When Ash joined the VIP Community back in December, he had been struggling with health anxiety for quite some time. This didn’t just give him physical sensations like a racing heart, but even worse were the intrusive thoughts that were impossible to ignore. His anxiety had created a deep fear that something was wrong with his health.
This anxiety led to hours of Googling and even multiple medical tests per month, all of which came back clear. The only problem was that his anxiety just wasn’t convinced he was healthy. The fear that the tests were inaccurate or that the illness would show up later was always there.
And this constant worrying had a huge impact on his life...
He no longer went to the gym as he used to, had trouble sleeping, avoided seeing family, and socializing also became an issue. In other words, the anxiety was controlling his life and Ash just wasn’t the person he used to be. Every morning he would wake up feeling anxious, already looking forward to being asleep again. But he decided that something needed to change.
So Ash joined the community and got some extra help by starting 1-on-1 coaching 📞
Before we even had our first call, Ash was already seeing his first wins! I shared a quick tool with him to help with morning anxiety, and just two days later, he sent me a message saying he was shocked by the results and that it was the best he had felt in the morning for a long time! 🎉
And from there on things only got better 🚀
We worked closely together, starting by giving him a better understanding of how his anxiety works. There is nothing more stressful for your brain than not knowing what is happening to you, so once Ash had a good understanding of how anxiety worked in his brain and body, everything started to make much more sense.
At the same time, we also started working on some tools. Just like we had used a tool to end his morning anxiety, we began using more tools with different goals. We used tools to regulate his nervous system, become more resilient to stress, improve his sleep, and even added a supplement to help him feel calmer throughout the day.
And this worked great!🔥
Just 4 days after getting started, his sleep was improving and he finally got 7+ hours of sleep again. This made the train ride to work the next day a little bit calmer, simply because he was finally getting enough rest.
Just sleeping better and getting rid of his morning anxiety created a positive cycle that really motivated Ash. The next day, he made a post in the community, sharing how this was the first time in months that he completed a full workout in the gym without leaving early!🏋🏽
This was another HUGE step forward and made him feel so much better that later that day, he even went out to eat at a restaurant with his family.
On December 19th, just 6 days after getting started, I got a message from Ash. He told me he felt strange that morning because he actually felt normal for the first time in months.
And this is something we see very often. If you’ve been struggling with anxiety for such a long time and you finally start feeling better, you have to get used to feeling calm again. But this feeling of calm kept coming back, every week a little more often and a little bit longer.
Now that things were going so great, we started incorporating exposure therapy with the goal of gradually doing things that triggered his anxiety and using those moments to teach his brain that the anxiety response is just a false alarm and actually not needed.
We did this by making a list of all the things that triggered his anxiety, like walking in a quiet park, going to the barber, listening to music, and train rides. This process takes some time because it’s all about building new connections in your brain and then making them stronger than the old ones.
But even here, we saw incredibly fast results! For example with the walk in the park: after just four visits, his brain had already learned that being alone in a park wasn’t a reason to trigger his anxiety, and he even started to enjoy going there.
Not long after that, other exposures also became no problem anymore. Listening to music, going out for coffee, and sitting in a pub were all things he overcame in a matter of 2-3 weeks!
At this point, there are just a few things that still trigger some anxiety, including riding the train. But even there we’ve seen amazing progress. The rides don’t just get a little easier every time, but Ash also had some moments sitting in the train with zero anxious thoughts 🚆
And even though Ash made incredible progress in such a short time, there were also some challenges. Healing never goes in a straight line, and we all have bad days every now and then, but the most important thing was that Ash kept pushing through, and every time he did, he came back even stronger. There were moments when his anxiety kept telling him to take another test, but Ash can now just let those thoughts be there without letting them control him.
Right now, just a few weeks after getting started, Ash’s mindset has completely shifted. On January 10th, less than 1 month after getting started, Ash shared that for the first time he felt completely safe. He can fully accept that he doesn’t have an illness and that the test results are accurate. He doesn’t feel the need to tested anymore and finally trusts his body without constantly needing reassurance.
🏆 Some of Ash’s wins since starting:
✅ Ended his morning anxiety
✅ Goes to the gym again
✅ Overcame multiple fears (going out to the park, barbershop etc.)
✅ Fixed his sleep
✅ Overcame his physical symptoms
✅ Has moments with no anxiety
✅ Feels happier and more grateful
✅ Fully accepted he’s not sick
✅ Sees his family again
✅ No longer wakes up at night
Right now there are just a few more steps we’re working on to completely overcoming the intrusive thoughts, but Ash is already starting to use his experience in a positive way. He volunteers to help others, donates money to charity related to the illness he feared, and is always there to help other people in the community by sharing what worked for him 🙏🏻
Last week he flew from the UK to his family in India, and right now he’s there enjoying the sun and getting some extra vitamin D! ✈️☀️
I am really proud of how far you’ve already come @Ashish Patel. I often use you as an example when I’m speaking to other members and I think it’s really inspiring how you are taking a negative experience and turning it into something good by helping other people. It motivates me a lot to see your dedication and the progress you’ve made in just a few weeks. Keep it up!
